The Lowbush Blueberry bush (Vaccinium angustifolium) is a native edible groundcover that is a low growing shrubs. Lowbush produces an edible fruit that is slightly tart in taste and smaller in size than that of highbush blueberry. Lowbush has multiple stems/twiggy branches with glossy foliage that turns from red-green in spring to dark blue-green in summer to maroon-purple in fall. Small, white, pink-tinged, bell-shaped flowers are followed by edible blue berries that are irresistible by wildlife and humans alike.
